Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Sound of Text website and the Sound of Text Com mobile application ("Service"), developed by Appz. By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must stop using the Service immediately.

2. Description of Service

Sound of Text provides a free text-to-speech conversion utility. The web version uses the browser's built-in Web Speech API to generate audio on-device. The mobile application connects to third-party speech synthesis engines to convert text into downloadable audio files. The Service also offers bulk text import, audio merging, and 1-step translation features in the mobile app.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Generate, distribute, or promote illegal, abusive, threatening, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable content.
  • Infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Application.
  • Use automated bots, scrapers, or similar tools to overload or abuse the Service.
  • Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.

4. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, design, and code associated with the Service are the property of Appz or its licensors. The open-source community contributions credited to NC Pierson and Soundtext.org remain under their respective licenses. Audio files generated through the Service are for your personal, non-commercial use unless otherwise permitted.

5. No Warranty

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. Browser-based text-to-speech quality depends on your device's installed voices and speech synthesis engine.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Appz shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data, revenue, or profits, whether foreseeable or unforeseeable.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, services, or advertisements (including Google AdMob). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party services. Your interactions with third-party services are governed by their respective terms and policies.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without prior notice, for any reason, including but not limited to a breach of these Terms.

9. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be available on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
