Sound of Text WhatsApp — How to Create a Custom Voice Ringtone

Sound of Text is a text-to-speech method that lets you convert any typed phrase into an MP3 audio file, then use it as a WhatsApp notification tone. No app download required — just a browser.

Step 1: Generate Your Audio File

Using soundoftext.com (supports most global languages):

  1. Go to soundoftext.com
  2. Type your text in the Text field
  3. Select your language/voice in the Voice dropdown
  4. Click Submit, then Download to save the MP3

Using Sound of Text WA (adds Javanese & Sundanese support):

  1. Go to Sound of Text WA
  2. Enter your text, select the language
  3. Click Convert to VoiceDownload

Both sites work like Google Translate’s audio feature — they use the same Google TTS engine.

Step 2: Add the MP3 to Your Phone’s Notification Library

Method A — File Manager (recommended):

  1. Open your File Manager
  2. Navigate to Internal Storage and find (or create) a folder named Notifications
  3. Copy your downloaded MP3 from the Downloads folder into Notifications

Method B — Via Clock/Alarm App:

  1. Open your Clock app → Alarm settings
  2. Tap Alarm soundAdd (+)
  3. Select your MP3 file and save

Either method registers the file as a system-wide notification sound, making it available in all apps including WhatsApp.

Step 3: Set It as Your WhatsApp Ringtone

  1. Open WhatsAppSettingsNotifications
  2. Tap Message notifications (or Group / Call notifications)
  3. Tap Notification tone and select your custom file

Troubleshooting

Problem Fix
No sound plays Check that your phone isn’t on silent; verify volume levels
File doesn’t appear in WhatsApp tone list Confirm the MP3 is in the Notifications folder, then restart WhatsApp or reboot your phone
Tone list is empty Try Method B (alarm app route) — some Android skins only register notification sounds added through the alarm app

Pro tip: Keep your text short (2–5 words) for a clean notification tone. Phrases like your name, a custom alert word, or a fun greeting work best.
